Senior Planning Officer

Salary up to £40,994 inclusive of outer fringe allowance
37 hours per week

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council is seeking driven and ambitious planners, who really want to reinterpret the ideals of the Garden City.  As part of this vision for the future, we have a great opportunity for experienced Senior Planning Officers.

Our new Local Plan is currently in examination and aims to deliver major growth across the borough. As a vital member of the Planning Policy Team, you’ll help to deliver the policies and allocations in the Plan and develop further guidance to ensure our goals are delivered. This is an exciting opportunity to immediately immerse yourself in complex and varied work, using your expert planning knowledge to really make a difference. You’ll relish being thrown into the thick of things, using this chance to prove yourself as a first-class planner.

We’re looking for someone with strong experience of developing planning policy and a degree in planning or a related subject. You’ll also be at ease liaising with members of the public and be able to provide clear, comprehensive advice. Strong written and verbal communication skills are therefore essential.

As our Senior Planning Officer, you’ll join a forward-thinking council that puts their customers first. We know that in order to provide the best for our residents and visitors, we need to do the same for our people. We have set out to make our workplaces vibrant and happy places to be, places where we feel safe, content and valued. From a generous annual leave entitlement, to flexible working and opportunities to buy and sell leave, our benefits package provides a great work life balance.

If you are interested in working in a high-performance authority and helping to shape our New Town and Garden City environments, we want to hear from you.

Closing date for applications is 31 March 2019.

Assessments and interviews will be held on 12 April 2019.
